Many of SAPOA’s accomplishments can be attributed to our proactive involvement in local and state politics. SAPOA seeks legislation that is essential or beneficial to the well-being of our members and plays an active role in the political arena to advance their interests. Our increased engagement in the political sphere has enhanced our ability to collaborate with state and local governments, helping us achieve our goals and elevate SAPOA’s standing in the community.

Our Endorsement Process

Dear Candidate:
Thank you for contacting the Santa Ana Police Officers Association regarding an endorsement for your campaign. SAPOA is honored to support candidates who demonstrate their dedication to public safety services and to the law enforcement professionals who provide essential patrol, custody, and special assignment services to protect lives and property in Santa Ana. Below is a summary of how SAPOA reviews and approves requests for political endorsements.

Submission: Requests for endorsement must be submitted in writing to the SAPOA office. Please include the office sought, the election date, party affiliation (for partisan primary elections), contact information, and any additional details.
Questionnaire: Candidates for citywide and statewide offices must submit a completed copy of the SAPOA candidate questionnaire to be considered for an endorsement. Your campaign will be notified in writing of any deadlines for returning the completed questionnaire.
